The Val d'Anniviers is one of the Alps' hidden off piste destinations. Extensive, varied terrain, big vertical drop, north and east facing slopes and a good snow record combine with the essential and hard-to-find ingredient - no crowds. Throughout the season, even days after the last snowfall, you can find untracked snow.
Each of the resorts have easy to find, lift accessed freeriding, as well as big routes which take you right out of the ski domain, though many of these conveniently end back in one of the resorts or at a bus stop.
To get the most from the area's off piste terrain we highly recommend hiring a guide, either for a day or two, or for the week. With costs shared by a small group it's even better value, particularly when you consider the quality and amount of skiing you'll get, and the safety issues of skiing off piste.
We work closely wiith Mountain Tracks, a group of guides with a passion for the mountains and a nose for powder. They run trips with SkiZinal throughout the season for all levels from aspiring off piste skiers to experts. They can also arrange bespoke guiding for your group.
We can also put you in touch with excellent local guides.
